Botswana is located in Southern Africa and it has no coastline. The country gained independence from the Commonwealth in 1966. The countries land is flat and about 70% of it is Kalahari Desert. It is one of the worlds most scarcely populated countries. Economically it has managed to pull off a remarkable transformation from one of the worlds poorest countries to having one of Africa's highest GDPs.
